SussexWay Meat is known for giving customers high quality, traditionally reared and organic meat through Farmers' Markets and the home delivery service.

As well as excellent products, the cornerstone of Sussexway Meat is developing relationships with customers by providing more than just meat sales.

Through the website and at the Farmers' Markets, David Dean and his team offer customers advice and cooking tips to help them make the most of the meat they buy. But this is just the start.

Recognising the public's desire for more locally produced, organic food, SussexWay Meat is looking to expand its activities. To do this we are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic people to help us move the business forward.

Distribution Person

More than just a driver, you need to like people and be willing to engage with both suppliers and customers. Obviously a clean driving licence is essential as is, at least 4 years driving experience. You need to be flexible as the hours will vary. You will be at the front line helping to promote SussexWay Meat as a local company that people enjoy dealing with. You can make a big difference to the success of the business by the way you deal with people.

There will be opportunities to earn bonuses if you can bring in new customers.

Are you interested in working with meat?

Butchery is a craft. Good cutting skills can turn a piece of meat into appetising ingredients for a family lunch or a romantic meal for 2. If you are lively, adaptable and willing to learn and have an interest in working with meat, then you could be just the person we are looking for. Experience is preferable but not essential.

Market Gardener

A fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic vegetable grower or market-gardener to develop fruit, herb and vegetable production at Ray Lodge Farm.
You will get:

• The opportunity to plan (in conjunction with SussexWay Meat), develop and run an organic market garden on the Surrey/Sussex border.
• Use of certified organic land (type of agreement to be discussed).
• The market garden will be part of a wider organic rotation and will benefit from the application of animal manures produced on the holding.
• SussexWay Meat will undertake annual ploughing for the market garden.
• Opportunity to grow a diverse range of crops such as winter salads, chillies, squash and pumpkins.
• Guaranteed market for produce via SussexWay Meat (name may be changed).

You will need:

• A commitment to organic principles.
• Proven experience or qualifications in horticulture.
• Ability to keep records and manage Soil Association inspections (training is available via the Soil Association).
• Opportunity to develop sustainable practices such as water harvesting.
• Willingness to enter into a five year agreement.
• Willingness to agree a cropping plan with SussexWay Meat.

Fancy yourself as a market stall holder?
Can you sell?

Farmers' Markets are the main outlet for SussexWay Meat's produce at the moment. SussexWay Meat is looking for someone to manage the mobile farm shop at farmers' markets in Surrey, Sussex and London. To do this job well you need to care about food and have at least an interest in organic food. This means early starts but you finish early too (6am to 3pm). It offers the right person an opportunity to increase sales through innovation and creativity. A clean driving licence is essential. You need to be able to drive a large van. If you can show enthusiasm and come up with ideas you will be offered bonuses for improving sales. Your ideas will be welcomed and full support will be given.

Are you in catering and looking for
something part time and different?

If you can be available at weekends and have a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, then we may have the job for you. SussexWay Meat is looking to sell prime quality hot organic food at farmers' markets and other outlets to encourage people to enjoy organic fast food. You need to be presentable, friendly and work well under pressure.
